Why RideMex Will Change the Way You See Mexico
There’s a side of Mexico that few ever get to see—a raw, breathtaking, unfiltered version of the country that lives beyond the highways and resort towns. RideMex was born out of a deep love for this Mexico. It was born out of crossing Mexico first on a mountain bike, all the way from Texas to Guatemala. Then, by crisscrossing it again and again in cars and 4X4s. Until lastly I rode the length of the country on my DR650. Riding my Suzuki across the country I thought, “There needs to be a TransMexico Trail, an adventure route that goes from Mexico’s northern to southern border on mostly dirt roads, connecting its most amazing sites.” It was riding in and out of the amazing Real de Catorce mining town that the RideMex TransMexico Trail idea became a goal, a project to be realized. Mexico is a true wonder: the kind of place where volcanoes cut through the clouds, where ancient pyramids rise from the jungle, where cobblestone towns echo with history, and where, on RideMex, the road ahead is almost always dirt and less traveled.
